It's no secret that the genre of brass fanfare is, in America, most famously exhibited in Aaron Copland's "Fanfare to the Common Man", a setting of which can be found in his Symphony No. 3. I used that piece as both a model and inspiration. Performers may notice the quotation of its opening trumpet rhythm as the rhythm of the opening horn call in mm. 10, as well as similar use of the percussion throughout. This fanfare is an expression of optimism, not an ode to the Common Man, but to the youth who are the future of our time.
